By the way, do people still blog, or is this like one of those out of fashion things like MySpace?
So McBroke is my journey to building a savings account, saving money to travel, and anything money-wise, Nilblog will be everything else. More than likely my opinions on film, music, TV, media, coworkers (Edward is a douche bag named after stupid Twilight vampire), and whatever else. Blah-blahhhhh!!!
Now that the intro is out of the way, let's get down to brass tacks (yes, I am 76 years old). I requested Halloween off from work. I was going to start at 8AM and watch horror movies until 1AM the next day. I was excited, ready to program what to watch, then got hit with the bomb today. Too many people have already asked for that weekend off. NOOOOOO!!!!
Well, I am not one to be deterred. Within minutes I came up with another idea, one that will get me more horror movie action. It is very simple, and you have probably already figured it out. I am going to watch at least one horror movie a day for the month of October. I even have wireless headphones, so if my beautiful girlfriend is too sleepy to watch (our TV is in the bedroom) I can do it without disturbing her. And lucky for me, my girlfriend loves horror movies, and is fully behind me in this.
Now the fun starts. Programming. I have Netflix streaming through the XBox. I have a ton of horror DVDs, some I haven't watched in years, and some I haven't watched at all! I have one of those box sets of 50 classic public domain horror movies that I think I have only seen three or 4 movies from. And that's not to mention the horror movies in the theaters. And luckily I live in Austin, TX, home of the Alamo Drafthouse, where they have Cult Thursdays and Terror Tuesdays and Weird Wednesdays and whahoozits for very cheap. And many of those movies tent to be horror movies. What I am getting at is that a have options galore! Oh, and Trick R Treat finally comes out on DVD in October, so you better believe it will be seen.
I'll be talking about the movies I watch. Some will be favorites. Some will be first timers. Some may even be ones I disliked at first, but decided to give a second chance. I'm looking forward to October. Between the finance improvement, rocking movie watching, healing back, home and yard improvements, and cool new shows (I know Flash Forward is the shit everyone is talking about right now, and it started strong, I'm telling you, Modern Family is the shit!) I think this is going to be a great month.
Optimism. I love it!
